I’m Carrie, freelancer designer and illustrator with over 8 years’ experience in the creative industry. I’ve worked with a wide range of clients including LEGO, Live Union and Wasserman, and have experience in a range of projects including logo design, illustration, slide decks and layout design in InDesign and Illustrator. I also support creative agencies such as Live Union, Create Health and Wasserman.

Slide deck design - WAYV
I know Powerpoint inside and out and am skilled at creating templates as well as redesigning content. I work with some pretty huge brands but rarely get to showcase the work, so I wanted to create a deck that gives a flavour of the kind of work I produce. I love working on projects with clients who want their deck to not look like a deck - a more high end style. I created a mini brand identity for the company, and then sourced and edited stock imagery for use within the deck.

Icon set - Word on the Street Group
These custom icons were created for mortgage brokers Word on the Street in collaboration with The Design Grove. With some slightly complex terms to convey like development finance and buy-to-let mortgages, an ‘off-the-shelf’ set of icons just wasn’t going to do it here. The challenge of coming up with suitable icons is what makes it fun!

Illustrated ebook - Triangle IM
Information management company Triangle IM wanted to publish an ebook on the topic of using Microsoft Power BI. The aim of the project was to encourage people to download the ebook and the subject matter needed bringing to life visually. They also wanted a way of communicating the content at a glance to help the reader find their way around the document. I created custom illustrations which were used throughout.

Web design company Pie Heart Studio wanted to give the website a human touch and bring it to life with some eye-catching custom illustrations featuring studio owner Beth herself! I loved working on this project, I like the challenge of taking fairly dry or unexciting terms and representing them visually.

Illustrated icons - Your Marketing Lifeline
Marketing consultancy Your Marketing Lifeline approached me to create a set of hand-drawn icons to add a sense of fun and personality to the brand. The end results have a hand-crafted feel and are vector so can be scaled and edited.
The brief was give a sense of fun, edginess and promote the brand as a “breath of fresh air” in a corporate landscape.

This is perfect for small to medium businesses who like clean, contemporary design but maybe aren’t yet ready to hire an in house designer or illustrator. I do work with lots of different industries from tech to beauty, but this is probably best suited to businesses who like things with a bit more personality as I don’t do super corporate stuff. I love working with passionate businesses who appreciate good design, communication and collaboration, and if you’re a fan of illustration then it’s probably a match made in heaven! I also support creative agencies such as Live Union, Create Health and Wasserman.
What do you charge?
Who is this for?
I try to be affordable for smaller business and each project is individual and is quoted for separately. I don’t charge for time, simply because this benefits no one - the designer is incentivised to work more quickly, perhaps cutting corners and not doing things justice. Project fees ensure that there are no surprises when it comes to the invoice while also allowing us to do the best job possible, giving your project the time and quality it deserves.
